White Dwarf

Client: Games Workshop

I worked at White Dwarf for just over two years as my first job in the gaming and design industries.

In that time I learned a great deal about layout and photography, which has been a solid and lasting foundation for my career.

During my time at White Dwarf I launched several popular articles, including Blanchitsu, and working alongside Glenn Moore, developed miniature photography techniques and styles that have not (I believe) been bettered to this day.

This Warhammer book was produced in the six months leading up to Christmas 2012 by the White Dwarf team.

I oversaw all design and photography alongside the busy monthly schedule of White Dwarf.

Rise of the Kage Identity and Kickstarter Design

Rise of the Kage Identity and Kickstarter Design

Client: GCT Studios

Kickstarter: Rise of the Kage

GCT Studios approached me to create a full identity and kickstarter campaign for their brand new board game, Rise of the Kage.

Over a period of six months building up to the campaign we worked to polish and tweak the full campaign, including creating logos, box mockups, tokens, photography and animations.

The Kickstarter was incredibly successful, raising over £100,000 (more than double the initial goal of £40,000).

Kickstarter: Rise of the Kage

This spread shows several of the other game elements created for Rise of the Kage, including over 200 cards and 140 tokens.

Each of these had to be carefully considered, and I looked after the project from concept design all the way through to designing the cutter guides and sending the files to print.

Guild Ball Season 1 Rulebook

Guild Ball Season 1 Rulebook

Client: Steamforged Games

Guild Ball was a very exciting project: Steamforged Games approached me to completely define the look and feel of all their materials.

Over several briefing sessions we completely deconstructed the purpose of a printed rule book redefined it from scratch, ending up with a landscape format that sits on the edge of a table without interfering in your game, as well as reading very nicely on a tablet screen.

Guild Ball team identities

Client: Steamforged Games

The miniatures for each team in Guild Ball have a very specific look and feel, and it is important that this is reflected in all other materials.

These logos and textures are distinct, unique and evocative, helping to feed back into the evolution of the Guild Ball world.

Guild Ball Season 1 Packaging

Guild Ball Season 1 Packaging

Client: Steamforged Games

The packaging design for Guild Ball was designed to stand out from that of other companies on game store shelves. The boxes are reminiscent of old, leather-bound books, making the store racks feel like a library.

Each team has a distinct visual style and set of textures and colours, making them feel distinct, yet part of a cohesive range.

Guild Ball Season 2 - Mortician's Guild Captain Scalpel Teaser Trailer

Client: Steamforged

A short teaser animation created to show off the new Mortician's Guild Captain in Season 2 of Guild Ball.

It's always a pleasure working with the great GB concept art, but making it come to life is as exciting as it gets.
